INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL SERVICE, USA (ISS-USA)JOINS A COMMUNITY THRIVES, PART OF THE USA NETWORK POWERED BY CROWDRISE BY GOFUNDME
Donors can help ISS-USA win up to $25,000 in grant money to fund community building initiatives
Baltimore, Maryland, Mon. March 18, 2018 — International Social Service, USA (ISS-USA) is now competing in A Community Thrives, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, a fundraising program on CrowdRise by GoFundMe, the most trusted social fundraising platform. A Community Thrives is a nationwide program that is focused on helping organizations by shining a national spotlight on their community building initiatives. ISS-USA has the opportunity to be awarded up to $1 million in available project-based grants to help fund a reunification and reintegration for children separated at the southern U.S. border: https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/international-social-service-usa-branch-inc-maryland
ISS-USA is collaborating with social work partners in Guatemala to provide planning case management to families beginning the process of reunification after a separation. Pre-departure planning helps prepare children, families and social support systems for the transition to a home country and can help ensure that repatriation, by force or by choice, is safe and sustainable. ISS-USA is hoping to raise an additional $15,000.00 as part of A Community Thrives to expand their program to the two other countries in the Northern Triangle region – Honduras and El Salvador.
“The success of our Guatemala Reunification and Reintegration program has created a need to help more families,” said Julie Rosicky, Executive Director of ISS-USA. “this campaign has the potential to provide up to 125 more separated children and their families the social and community services they need to remain safely in their home community after a traumatic separation.”
A Community Thrives launched on CrowdRise by GoFundMe on Monday, March 18th, 2019 at 12pm ET and will continue through Friday, April 12th, 2019 at 11:59:59am ET. The organizations in tier 1 and tier 2 that raise the most during the program will each be awarded a $25,000 grant, second place organizations will each be awarded a $15,000 grant and third place organizations will each be awarded a $10,000 grant. Weekly bonus challenges enable organizations to be awarded up to $50,000 in grants in each Tier. At the end of the crowdfunding period, an additional 16 grants totaling $800,000 will be awarded to participating organizations. Plus, qualifying organizations that provide services in USA TODAY NETWORK’s 109 newspaper markets may be eligible to receive an additional operating grant from a $1,300,000 fund.
