Protective Service Alerts are issued in other countries when a child or children are at risk for abuse or neglect.
Child Welfare Checks are frequently requested by other ISS Branches, Bureaus and Correspondents world-wide. Child Welfare Checks require the U.S. Social Service system to make an assessment about the welfare of a child in question for an interested party in another country. Typically, the local child welfare system needs to have jurisdiction in order to follow through with the request. If not, then the parent or caregiver may voluntarily submit to a child welfare check.
Mediation assistance is available to families involved with international child abduction, custody/visitation and other family disputes. For more information about mediation Click Here.
